The honest version: there is very little to tell you, because there is very little being collected.
There is no advertising network on this site, no analytics service, no tracking pixel, no session recording, and no third-party script watching what you look up. Nothing you search for here is tied to you or sold to anybody.
There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign into and no profile of you to build.
"What's near me" asks your browser for your position. When you allow it, that position is rounded to roughly a seven-mile square before anything is sent anywhere. The server is asked which restaurants are in that square; the distances are then worked out on your device from the coordinates that come back.
Your actual coordinates are never transmitted, never logged and never stored. The square is not recorded either. Declining the prompt costs you nothing — a postcode box appears instead.
None. Your light or dark theme preference is kept in your browser's own local storage, on your device, and is never sent to us. That is the only thing this site stores in your browser at all — which is why you have never seen a cookie banner here and never will.
We store your email address and, if you gave one, a postcode. That is the whole record. It is used only to send the alerts you asked for.
It is never sold, never shared, never rented and never passed to an advertiser. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes your address rather than suppressing it — there is no dormant list you can be resurrected from. You can ask us to delete it at any time and it is gone.
The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles requests and keeps standard operational logs — the sort of thing any web server records in order to serve a page and stay up. We do not build profiles from them and we do not use them for advertising.
The map uses map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which means your browser requests images from openstreetmap.org and they see that request. Fonts, scripts and everything else are served from this site's own domain, so no other third party is contacted.
This site publishes records about licensed businesses, not about private individuals. Inspectors' findings describe premises and practices. Where the state's record happens to name a person, that is the state's published record and we neither add to it nor build anything on top of it.
